Tuesday morning, the Bitcoin rate rose from 3600 euros to 4500 euros in just one hour. This enormous price increase has not only attracted much attention from the crypto scene. As the new figures from Google show, interest in the crypto currency has increased significantly this week. Let’s take a closer look at the figures!
Bitcoin this week much sought after topic at Google
Below this text, you’ll see a graphic that comes from Google Trends. This measures the relative interest in the search query “Bitcoin” worldwide. On April 2, around 7:00 a.m., interest rose to almost 100. After that, interest in the crypto currency dropped slightly. However, it is still on a higher level than a few days ago.
This is a clear difference to what happened in the past. On March 27, for example, the price rose and so did the search queries for the crypto currency. When the price increase ebbed again, the interest sank back to the previous level.
Search orders come from Africa and Europe
Where do people google a lot for Bitcoin? Especially many people in Nigeria and South Africa searched for information about the crypto currency. But also in Europe the interest in the crypto currency is great. The Netherlands are third, Austria fourth and Switzerland fifth.
Interest is still low compared to previous successes
If you look at the course of the Bitcoin search request over a longer period of time, however, it becomes clear that the crypto currency is still a long way from previous successes at Google.
Initially, interest in the crypto currency increased from April to June 2017. At that time Bitcoin achieved a price of over $2500 for the first time. At the end of 2017, the crypto currency was searched for more than ever before. At this time Bitcoin also reached its record high. After that, a negative trend started both for the price and for the search orders.
In November 2018 the digital coin received more attention again. In just 10 days, the rate fell from $6000 to only $4200. At the moment the number of search queries is on a similar level as before the big rush for the crypto currency.
