This was reported by his representatives at a board meeting held on March 22. According to Grigory Ivliev, the head of the department, the blockchain is planned to be used on a regular basis – for storing data and entering the register of three-dimensional models of patented objects. Registration of items in bulk form will be provided by the use of 3D technology.
Rospatent recently acquired a secure repository for information contained in the database. It is expected that the blockchain will facilitate the process of document management and fixing information about patents.
The Russian Federation not only uses advanced technologies, but also recalls the need for their implementation by the international community. In the World Intellectual Property Organization of Russia, the role of one of the chairmen of the working group on using 3D technology for registering patent applications is assigned. A similar group on the distribution of registries using the blockchain is also headed by the Russian Federation.
Ivliev announced the need to modernize the work of Rospatent last year at an international conference. At that time, the service issued more than a hundred patents on the blockchain, but there were several times more applications. Over the past year, their number has only increased.
In addition to the innovations described, Rospatent successfully implements other technologies. So in February 2018, a contract was signed with the organization IPChain, the national coordinator of the digital environment with intellectual property rights. The result of such cooperation should be the digitization of all the archives of Rospatent. Also for the near future is planned completion of the creation of a full-fledged database.
